We introduce the recent progress on the blowup mechanism of smooth solutions to 1D quasilinear strictly hyperbolic systems with a class of initial data of large variation. The component of the smooth solution along the genuinely-nonlinear direction is shown to be 1/3 Holder continuous up to the blowup time. The corresponding singularity is Burgers type and well described under the modulated coordinate. In addition, to overcome the difficulties caused by the general structure of the system, we establish the elaborate descriptions of the different characteristic directions and the global weighted energy estimates. This work is jointed with Prof. Huicheng Yin and Prof. Gang Xu.

李军,南京大学数学系教授,研究领域包括拟线性双曲型、椭圆方程及高维流体力学数学理论,解决了喷管中跨音速激波稳定性机制、高维超音速锥状激波整体稳定性等流体力学中长期关注的基本问题,相关文章发表在ARMA, CMP, SIAM, JDE等知名数学期刊。
